About Us

Welcome to PickyPineapples, a small business passionately dedicated to creating products that are as non-toxic as possible, made in the USA, and support a clean eco-friendly living space. We strive for sensory friendly items so all can enjoy . Simultaniously, we are supporting young adults on the autism spectrum as they transition into the workforce. We accomplish this by hiring neurodivergent employees and training in all aspects of an office environment, public interaction, and production and shipping of our products. Our mission is motivated by personal experiences and the unwavering belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in a supportive job environment.

Our Story

PickyPineapples was founded by a mother of two kiddos on the spectrum who understands the unique challenges and beauty of life on the autism spectrum. As a parent to children with autism, she has witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by young adults during their journey into the typical world let alone the professional world. Inspired by her family's experiences, she created PickyPineapples to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity and to spread awareness as well as give back as much as possible.

Our Mission

At PickyPineapples, we focus on:

  • Empowerment: Providing young adults with the tools and confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.
  • Inclusion: Creating opportunities with local businesses that value diversity and inclusivity by allowing us to participate in market days and other specialty pop-ups.
  • Education: Educating employers on the benefits and talents that individuals on the autism spectrum bring to the workplace. (coming soon)
  • Giving Back: We currently donate 20% of our sales to local non-profits that positively and directly affect all neurodivergent people.

Understanding the Challenges

Young adults on the autism spectrum face several challenges when entering the job market, including:

  • Communication Barriers: Navigating social cues and workplace etiquette can be difficult.
  • Sensory Sensitivities: Adapting to new environments can be overwhelming.
  • Misunderstandings: Employers and customers often lack understanding of autism, leading to potential miscommunications.

Overcoming Obstacles

With a deep personal connection to the autism community, we have developed strategies to overcome these obstacles:

  1. Personalized Coaching: We provide one-on-one coaching to help young adults build essential workplace skills, such as effective communication and time management.
  2. Job Matching: We work closely within our own small business to match individuals with roles that suit their strengths and interests, ensuring success and growth.
  3. Ongoing Support.
